An article about the public transport in Hannover by Katrin S.
In Hannover you´ll find an efficient and well structured public transport system. Besides bus and train you can use our subway system. The fare i s ok if you notice the high investment seven years ago for the world exhibition „Expo“. The compartments are mostly clean and comfortable, as are the undergrounds and bus shelters located around the city. Besides the conductors there are security men too and most of the underground stations are supervised with cameras.
You have to buy your tickets before starting your journey, because there are no automatic vending machines on the trains or subways. You´ll find vending machines in front of the entrance of the underground but you can also buy a week or month travelcard at the Üstra-store near the railway station.
The subway is -besides a few excuses- always punctual and never overcrowded. By the way, Hannover became well known for its subways, which is also called the „Silberpfeile“. The reasons have already been mentioned!
