A day´s tour of the most interesting places of Hanover by Katrin S.
First of all, we´ll start with a delicious breakfast at the market hall. There are lots of stores with every kind of food you can imagine - from fresh fruits and vegetables to fish and sea food as well as cheese and meat. Then we will start our journey with a visit in the Hanover’s city hall. It stands on wooden stilts, because the soil in this area is soft. This is the only sort of building of its kind in the world. But you can´t see the stilts because they are in the soil. In the hall you can see the history o f Hanover. Very impressive is the documentation about the second world war, where Hanover was mostly destroyed. Another interesting part is the elevator. It goes to the top of the hall and you have a marvellous view all over the town. The thing which makes the lift interesting is the kind of operating mechanism. It travels in a diagonal direction and not straight up and down, so you can see everything under you during the drive. It´s nothing for scaredy-cats!
After leaving the hall, we´ll have a short walk through the „Masch-Park“ to the „ Maschsee“. This is a famous lake, which was built during the Hitler-regime. Nowadays all traces from the dictatorship of Hitler are gone and it´s a great location for chilling, going for a walk, blading, jogging, sailing or sitting in the beer garden, spending your time. By then it could be lunch time, so we´ll go by subway to the royal gardens. They were built by the „Welfen-King“ and served for relaxation. You can also have a look at the „Niki de saint phalle-Grotte“. Near to the garden there is a great Italian restaurant, where we´ll have our lunch break. In the afternoon we´ll have a look at the shopping area in Hannover. We can choose between the major place around the „Kröpke-Uhr“, the old city and the „Lister Meile“. Late in the evening, we´ll have fun in the „Steintor-Viertel“, the renowned nightlife-location in Hannover. There you´ll find many clubs without entry-price. After dancing, drinking and having fun with the friendly Hanoverians, I hope, my guests have had a fantastic day in my town. |
